Ayurvedic Hummus & Tahini

In Ayurvedic thought garlic is Rajasic, meaning it brings about excess stimulation that can interfere with digestion and overstimulate your mind. In its place, we’ve added digestive spices that increase Agni (digestive fire). You can try many different spices, including fenugreek, sumac, and or Hing (asafoetida). You can buy cooked garbanzos beans or cook them yourself.

Tahini
Yield 1- 1/4 cups

Tahini is a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame seeds It is served by itself or as a major ingredient in hummus, baba ghanoush, and halva. Tahini is traditionally used in many cuisines in the Mediterranean region. Although you can buy premade tahini at a number of grocery stores below is a very simple recipe for homemade.
