Prunes

Prunes are famous as laxatives because of their high fiber content. They are also high in vitamins, minerals, and natural antioxidants. They are also high in beta-carotene and citric acid and replenish the body's electrolytes.

From an Ayurvedic point of view, they are balanced for Vata and Pitta, are heavy and sweet, and have beneficial qualities for Kapha due to their laxative effect.  Vata should be cautious about overuse due to prunes' high potassium content, which can be diuretic and drying; sprinkling a pinch of salt on the theme counterbalances this nature.
