Nearly everywhere we look in nature, creatures engage in a consistent daily routine. Nature's rhythms deeply influence the world, with the sun's rising and setting and the season’s cycles affecting all organic things and the broader community of life.
However, with the invention of electricity, humans have gotten away from the natural order of nature. More recently, with the introduction of the internet and cellular phones, there is a sense of high alertness and hypervigilance due to constant connectedness, which can bring an imbalance to life. Additionally, the use of stimulants (caffeine, chocolate, and medications), although helpful in moderation, can seriously affect our natural rhythms and overall health.
Creating consistent daily routines and regularity cannot be underestimated. Establishing regularity with holistic practices regarding food, sleep, exercise, relationships, family, and spiritual and creative pursuits will help to balance the biological clock and your daily life, bringing presence, stability, and overall balance.
With more and more people living in cities, we naturally spend less time in nature, so it is crucial to seek this out because it feeds the soul and existence. Additionally, how we start our day is essential because if your day begins erratically and ungrounded, the remainder of the day might follow suit.
Ayurveda is based on its connection to the five elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth), which are the building blocks of the universe, encompassing all of existence, and make up the three biological energies (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) that make up our constitutions (natures). These elements and their energetics are connected to the five senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch).
Ayurveda uses dosha/constitutional therapies connected to the five senses to bring balance, health, and harmony. These therapies include body therapies, exercise, yoga, pranayama, food, herbs, colors, aromatherapy, mantras, meditation, etc., all of which bring balance.
Developing daily practices (Dinacharya) can bring health and harmony and are created based on each person’s unique needs, goals, and challenges. So, seeking help from a practitioner can be very helpful, and I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
