Anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the body's tissues. Hemoglobin is a protein found in red cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to all other organs in the body.

· Vitamin-deficient anemia is caused by deficiencies of vitamin B-12 and folate.
· Aplasitc anemia occurs when the bone marros stops making enough blood cells.
· Sickle cell anemia is an inherited disordre that affects the shape of the red bloo cells.
· Thalassemia anemia is an inherited condtion in which has leess hemoglobian than usual.
In general, symptoms of anemia include fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, pale or yellowish skin, irregular heartbeat, dizziness or lightheadedness, chest pain, cold hands and feet, and headaches.
In Ayurveda, anemia is known as Pandu Roga, primarily caused by an imbalance in Pitta dosha and impaired blood tissue (Rakta Dhatu), often linked to weak digestion (Agni) and poor nutrition.
Causes include dietary factors when excessive sour, salty, or spicy foods, alcohol, and improper food combinations are used, blood loss from injuries, excessive menstruation or internal bleeding, parasites often reduce nutrient absorption, and overexertion and stress can contribute.
Ayurvedic treatment focuses on restoring doshic balance by performing panchakarma to remove toxins, restore digestion, and improve metabolic balance. It also strengthens digestion, nourishes the blood with iron-rich foods (raisins, pomegranate, molasses) and herbs including fenugreek, amala, and ashwagandha, and uses yoga, pranayama, and meditation to improve circulation and reduce stress.
