Fig Lassi

This bone-building Lassi is an Indian yogurt-based beverage that naturally supports bone health due to its calcium content. It is also probiotic (digestive) because of its natural fermentation process, which creates live microorganisms high in healthy bacteria, benefiting the digestive and assimilation process.

The recipe below incorporates the use of goat's milk yogurt, which has the same qualities as cow’s milk but has smaller fat globules, allowing for easier digestion and has a lower level of the allergen casein, making it less inflammatory. It contains higher levels of calcium and phosphorus, as well as significantly more magnesium, than cow's milk, which helps support bone metabolism and density, and it is often fortified with vitamin D, which aids in the bones' ability to absorb calcium.

Figs are beneficial for preventing osteoporosis due to their high content of calcium, potassium, magnesium, and vitamin K, which promote bone density and prevent bone breakdown, as well as their antioxidant properties.

The addition of cinnamon contains manganese, vitamin K, and omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce bone breakdown. Adding almonds further enhances its overall effectiveness.
