Hemp Hearts

Hemp was first cultivated as a textile fiber, but it was overshadowed by cotton due to its lower labor intensity. Hemp hearts are a complete protein source containing 20 amino acids, as well as fiber, and offer substantial health benefits.

Ayurveda considers hemp a Rasayana (rejuvenation), and it is nutritional. It improves immunity, benefits cardiovascular and muscle functions, and is an anti-inflammatory.  It is beneficial for the Vata (space and air). It helps balance the Pitta (fire and water) dosha. It can be imbalancing to Kapha because of its tamasic (sedative) qualities, which release serotonin and induce sleep.
