Pippali is a unique rejuvenating spice that is a close relative of the common black pepper. It shares similar pungent and heating elements as pepper but stands out because it is less heating and has a sweet aftertaste, which makes it more Pitta-friendly.
It naturally enkindles digestion, destroys and removes toxins, benefits liver function, and cleans the blood. It is a purgative that helps move solid wastes and scraps and reduces fat tissue. It alleviates skin disorders and hiccups, reduces fevers, supports the respiratory and nervous systems, soothes coughs and colds, and promotes the development of reproductive tissues. It can aid in weight loss by increasing metabolism, alleviating toothaches and inflammation, and suppressing appetite. It has carminative actions, removing gas and indigestion, and is categorized as a dipana, which encourages the assimilation of other herbs.
