Pippali - Long Pepper

Pippali, a unique rejuvenating spice that is a close relative to the common black pepper. It shares simular pungent and heating elements as pepper but stands out becuase it is less heating and has a sweet aftertaste whioch makes it more Pitta friendly.

 


It naturally enkindles digestion, destroys, and removes toxins, benefits liver function, and cleans the blood.  It is a purgative that helps move solid wastes and scraps and reduces fat tissue.  It alleviates skin disorders and hiccups, reduces fevers, supports the respiratory and nervous system, soothes coughs and colds, and builds reproductive tissues.  It can benefit weight loss by increasing metabolism, alleviating toothaches and inflammation, and increases appetite.  It has carminative actions removing gas and indigestion and is categorized as a dipana encouraging assimilation of other herbs.

 

Energetics:

Pungent/Mildly Heating/Sweet Digestive

Oily, light, and penetrating

Reduces Vata and Kapha but can increase Pitta in excess

 

Bio-medicals:

Digestive stimulant, dipana, carminative, hepatoprotective, expectorant, bronchodilator, anthelmintic, analgesic, circulatory stimulant, and aphrodisiac.

 

Dosage: 1-5 gr per day
