Rose Water Eye Wash

Rose water eye wash is made by distilling or steeping rose petals and offers many benefits: it moisturizes, helps maintain the skin's natural acidic pH, and soothes irritation with its anti-inflammatory effects. Its mild antibacterial and astringent properties help clear bacteria, control excess oil, and provide antioxidants that protect against stressors and oxidative stress. When applied directly with an eye cup, it reduces inflammation, tiredness, and puffiness around the eyes; when misted on, it hydrates dry patches and stimulates hair growth. Finally, its scent can stimulate the senses and ease stress, anxiety, and nervousness.
In Ayurveda, using rose water as an eye wash and treatment is called Netra Shuddhi. It cools, hydrates, and refreshes the eyes. Its cooling nature helps balance pitta.
Instructions for Eye Treatment:

Prepare Liquid: Fill the eye cup about halfway with pure rose water, then dilute with clean, lukewarm, or filtered water to top.
Position the Cup: Looking down, bring the eye cup against your eye socket to create a light seal, then lift your head, looking upwards.
Blink and Rotate: Open your eye into the liquid, and gently blink and rotate your eyeball around for 15 to 30 seconds.
Switch Sides: Remove the cup, discard the used liquid, clean the cup thoroughly, and repeat the process on the other eye with fresh solution.
