Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is a medicinal herb with bioactive compounds that have cooling, moistening, soothing, nourishing, rejuvenating, and strengthening effects.
It supports digestive health by promoting protective mucus, reducing inflammation, and potentially killing H. pylori. It acts as a demulcent and expectorant, easing irritation in sore throats, dry coughs, bronchitis, and asthma. It also supports the liver, aiding in detoxification, hepatitis, and drug-induced liver injury, and it is effective against allergies and chronic inflammatory conditions, including potential tumor-suppressing actions. Additionally, it benefits the adrenals by protecting cortisol from degradation. It also helps manage stress and fatigue. Topically, it is excellent for eczema, acne, and reducing hyperpigmentation.
